    Caring Compassion Charity

Linda Zdanowicz at Exceptional Dental Practice Management has tagged me for a meme focused on Caring Compassion & Charity.   Alex Shalman who started this meme describes how to do it.

In a new blog post, list and write about the top 1 or 2 causes that simply make your palms sweat, your heart bleed, and send tears rolling down your cheeks. Make sure you tell everyone why this cause is so important to you as an individual.

I'm passionate about the leadership of kids. It is why I've spent the past eleven years involved with Boy Scouts. I want to see them gain confidence by trying to organize activities that they see beyond themselves, and then realizing that they can do a lot of things that they never imagined.  During my time as the scoutmaster of our troop, we had 16 boys earn their Eagle rank.  Both of my sons have earned this rank, and it was a great moment for us when they did.

Recently, our family has become involved with another organization that supports kid's leadership. This group is called Random Kid.  Anne Ginther is the founder and president.  Her purpose is to help kids fulfill their ideas for helping others. We became involved through my daughter's involvement on Random Kid's National Task Force on Rebuilding the Gulf.  My daughter did a project after Katrina to help some kids have Christmas.  I wrote about her project here.  This National Task Force is made up of kids who are middle and high school age and who have done some cool things to help people. You can read about it here. This group is gathering for the first time in person in a couple weeks in Gulfport to participate in a weekend fund-raiser for Habitat for Humanity. I can't wait to meet some of these kids face to face.

So, what is it that I'm passionate about kid's leadership in particular?   First, I am moved by people who take initiative to do the right thing for the right reasons.  Second, I'm moved by people who are sacrificial in their giving and leadership.  Third, I'm overwhelmed when I see this in kids.

I'm tagging the following bloggers for this meme.
