Quick Takes: Innovate or Die! - Tom Peters
Welcome Twitter friends - Glad you are here
Ever since I read Peter Drucker's Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 1986, I have been a lover of innovation. It is in my bones. It is part of the reason why I see my Johnny Bunko 7th lesson - Say Thanks Every Day (You can still vote for the Say Thanks to win through Thursday.)
To "Create a Revolution of Thanks and Welcome" is not just a sweet, little idea, but one that could revolutionize business and professional relationships. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that if you don't innovate into being a person of gratitude, your business will suffer. Because coming out of this recession, the winners will be those who built deeper, closer relationships with their clients. And there is nothing so deep as gratitude.
That said, it was a kick to have read Tom Peter's latest list - Innovate or Die: The Innovation120 - A Menu of [Essential] Innovation Tactics. Here's one.
As we go through this tough economic time, developing as wide,as diverse, and as non-redundant sets of relationships as possible is essential. The less they know one another, the more importnat we become. And if we make gratitude a central feature of our business friendships, then we become a far more significant factor in their lives, and they in ours.
A word to the wise. If you don't innovate during these next weeks and months, you will not be prepared for the changes that are happening in the economy and society at large. So, as Tom Peters says, "Innovate or Die?"
Innovate or Die, a great philosophy for business owners as well as everyone else. Innovate the way you live your life, your daily routines, the way you connect with others, etc. Innovation is the spirit of the day.
Thanks for this post.
