lewis-clark.org :: Fortunate Camp - Menu
Joe Mussulman's Discoverying Lewis & Clark is a great website. The topics he presents are excellent.
He has just posted a piece on Camp Fortunate by Robert Bergantino. It is wellworth a visit.
If you are like me, and find navigation (not with a GPS) fascinating, then check it out. He has a good explanation about where the camp is.
I was there in July, and wished to have been able to see the exact spot where they camped, where Sacagewea met her brother and where they buried the canoes and the cache of supplies over the winter of 1805-06.
Also, at the site is a series of the photos of the trail from the air. Especially check out the set on Lewis Valley, aka Lemhi Valley.
