This large butte in central Montana, south of the Missouri River, east/southeast of Great Falls, was notice by Meriwether Lewis. This picture was taken on Rt.80 near the town of Square Butte.
Arrow Creek, south of Square Butte, flows north into the Missouri River just upstream from the Judith River Bridge in the White Cliffs region of the river.
This is one of the many buttes that dot the landscape in this section of central Montana. They are fascinating as they change appearance as your drive, as the sunlight changes and as weather moves through.
